Google Chrome Extensions Now for 'All Windows Users'

According to the official Gmail blog, “Google (News - Alert) Chrome Extensions are now available for all Windows users. For those of you on Linux, extensions are enabled on the beta channel. Mac users, hang tight -- extensions are coming to the beta soon.”

So what does assorted geekdom think, in all its misspelled, ungrammatical glory?

“Once I discovered the extensions a week or two ago. I added adblock, facebook adblock and 1 click weather and a few others. I've made the switch to Chrome from FF. I still keep FF around and up to date but Chrome is really something to try these days. Where as before extensions I didn't feel it was ready for daily use,” the Google blog said.

This reporter made the switch once Chrome let you get rid of underlined links that was the deal breaker, and hasn't thought of returning.

“I like the Url Shortener addon. You click the button it shortens your url and copy it in your clipboard. All you have to do is CTRL+V it. Theere are options that let you shate it immediately on digg, facerbook, myspace, gmail etc. Example of this url is:http://goo.gl/n2ZV,” said one user.

Wow, this sounds great – as a Chrome user this reporter will check it out.

“I won't leave FF until I see something like the FF Tree Style Tab extension. From what I understand, this is not currently possible,” the user added.

This guy probably still believes humans are responsible for global warming and that Obama will cut his taxes, too.

“I recommend Google Mail Checker Plus instead. You can preview messages without visiting gmail in order that you don't visit to read just another spam mail,” another user said.

Sounds genuinely useful.

“I’ve come to like chrome a lot more now, but I still miss 'Find as you type,’” another user said.

Nothing is perfect, grasshopper.

“Chrome does not have a drop-down menu in the address bar. This is a dealbreaker,” another user said.

Every man has his own breaking point.

“I’m still baffled at the fact that you can't use Google toolbar in Chrome,” another user said.

Indeed.
