Infobright Intros Open Source Product for Windows

Infobright, the open source data warehousing company, has released Infobright Enterprise Edition for Windows.

The company earlier this year released its open source Infobright Community Edition on Windows in response to a high volume of requests from its open source user community.

“Since we released ICE for Windows in early March, it has represented more than 42 percent of our downloads, confirming the demand in the community for a Windows version of Infobright’s simple, scalable and low-cost analytic database,” said Susan Davis, vice president, marketing and product management at Infobright.

Davis said that with the release of IEE for Windows, users that require the added features and services included with IEE can now choose Windows, Linux or Solaris as their operating environment.

The company officials said that IEE offers the industry’s lowest total cost of ownership and unmatched operational simplicity.

Officials said that the columnar database is ideal for analytics, and the self-managing Knowledge Grid architecture reduces typical implementation and ongoing management costs by up to 90 percent.

Using industry-leading compression, IEE supports up to 50 TB of data on a single, industry-standard server, which reduces hardware requirements, while integration with Sun Microsystems’ (News - Alert) MySQL database provides MySQL users with a seamless path to a highly scalable analytic data warehouse.

Infobright recently had announced the launch of its OEM Partner Program, which allows software vendors and SaaS (News - Alert) providers to easily enhance their offerings with Infobright’s powerful, low-cost analytic database. The company’s analytic database enhances application and service offerings with the ability to keep more data online, load data faster, and support greater flexibility in reporting and analysis.

Officials at Infobright say their self-managing software reduces administrative efforts by up to 90 percent, leverages industry-standard servers, and requires far less storage than other products due to its industry-leading data compression and elimination of indexes, data partitioning, or data duplication.

The reduction in hardware cost, administrative efforts, and affordable pricing means that OEMs can offer their customers enhanced functionality at lower costs, increasing product margins, and providing an opportunity for greater revenue.
