CoWare, Inc reportedly announced today that is has partnered with MontaVista (News - Alert) Software, Inc. to deliver a joint solution to accelerate the development of Linux-based devices. The solution comprised of a reference virtual platform running MontaVista Linux and integrating MontaVista development tools, including the DevRocket integrated development environment.

The solution is designed to accelerate Linux education and the development of Linux support packages and Linux-based electronic devices for markets such as mobile devices, consumer electronics, and networking equipment.

Semiconductor and electronics companies require productive development tools and a Linux-based platform to deliver the best product within shortest duration. Using the MontaVista DevRocket development environment and the CoWare Virtual Platform software, debugging and analysis capabilities software, developer productivity can be enhanced significantly, company officials say.
