ITema Releases Open Source Web Editor, Sandbox

ITema, a provider of Web sites and associated on-line productivity tools, announced the release of its ITema Sandbox for MODx developers, as open source under the GNU license V3.

ITema Sandbox is a user-friendly Web site editor and user interface, which enables Web developer clients to manage their Web sites from the front end.

With ITema Sandbox, developers can control their Web sites by adding pages, changing titles, menu options and can even choose layout of their choice from a simple interactive front-end, thereby easing the job of the developer who is required to make changes in the Web site according to client’s needs.

For those who are unfamiliar with MODx, it is an open source PHP (hypertext preprocessor; HTML embedded scripting language) application framework that allows developers to hand off day-to-day Web site content maintenance and updates to their clients and thereby provide control of the online content to the client. Developers and advanced users can give control to whomever they desire for Web site content maintenance.

MODx content management framework features user-friendly API and a large event override system. It allows easy control of CSS (News - Alert) (cascading style sheets) and even features the addition of Ajax functionality.

ITema Sandbox is hosted for free through the company’s developer portal at the Web site: http://www.modxdev.com.

ITema's modxdev.com Web portal facilitates Web developers to deploy MODx sites, with or without Sandbox, at a free sub-domain. Once the site development is over, the company’s control panel offers competitive domain registration, hosting, and integrated deployment of the site to the developers. The company also offers other applications such as Zimbra (News - Alert) e-mail, sugarCRM, PHPBB forums, MediaWiki, and Wordpress blog. All these features are offered either on a monthly subscription or ad-supported basis.

John Slade, COO at ITema, explained, "Many developers make their living creating Web sites. Supplying ITema's Sandbox to their clients relieves developers of content maintenance tasks and frees them to concentrate on more interesting and lucrative work."

Ryan Thrash, founder of MODx, said that their development partners, ITema, who have adopted the MODx platform are helping to enhance its value to the developer community.

MODx is also a winner of the 2007, "Most promising Open Source CMS" award.

Niantic, Connecticut-based ITema is Software as a Service (SaaS (News - Alert)) provider that delivers Web site solutions and associated business tools to small businesses.
