May 04, 2010

Digium (News - Alert) has certified the Panasonic (News - Alert) line of SIP Cordless Phone Systems, the KX-TGP500 and KX-TGP550, for use with the Asterisk telephony platform.

Digium is a creator and sponsor of Asterisk (News - Alert), an open source telephony software. Mark Amick, director of product management at Digium, said that the Panasonic global footprint and commitment to SIP telephony excellence create exciting sales opportunities for the partner community and for businesses using Asterisk.

The Panasonic TGP500 series of SIP Cordless Phones Systems offer a range of "productivity-boosting" options in a feature rich desk phone replacement. With Panasonic TGP500 series SIP phone system, it is easy to add up to six cordless handsets -- each with its own number, said company officials. For this, the users only need a single Internet connection and an electrical outlet near the location of the handset.

Moreover, connection is secure and sound crystal-clear since it employs DECT (News - Alert) technology. Company officials said that DECT 6.0 ensures no interference with wireless networks. Also, the cordless design eliminates the need to run dedicated network wiring to each employee workstation.

KX-TGP500 features a wall-mountable base unit and one cordless handset. Also, it is expandable up to six DECT 6.0 cordless handsets and supports up to eight phone numbers and three simultaneous calls. Company officials said that it comes with Wide Band Audio -- G.722 -- and five hours talk time, 10 days standby.

In addition to having all the features and benefits similar to that of KX-TGP500, KX-TGP550 also features a corded base unit with a large white backlit LCD and 5 hours talk time, 10 days standby. Also, it comes with a hands-free speaker phone, handset call button on the base unit, and one-touch call transfer with busy lamp indication.

Company officials said that the TGP500 systems can be expanded up to a total of six cordless handsets by adding the KX-TPA50 cordless handset.
