ZiiLABS’ cellular development platforms.
RapidRIL software adapted to Infineon XMM Baseband processors is purported to make Android phone development faster and less costly for manufacturers. Intrinsyc's RapidRIL supports the Infineon XMM cellular module for HSPA connectivity and offers a production ready solution to give ZiiLABS OEMs and ODMs a head start in getting high quality Android devices to market.
ZiiLABS has stated that their Zii Development Kit can act as an advanced cellular platform from which next-gen Android products can be made. Now with Android RapidRIL support, users of their cellular platforms can realize shortened time-to-market and build innovative devices such as multiple radios using the unique RapidRIL multi-channel architecture. They can also leverage investment time and budget with RapidRIL product solutions for multiple operating systems.
Intrinsyc RapidRIL, a 3G radio control interface product, has been adapted to the Infineon XMM platforms and X-Gold families of mobile device baseband processors supporting GSM/GPRS, EDGE, and WCDMA/HSPA technologies. RapidRIL support for the Infineon modem platforms will enable manufacturers to accelerate the process of designing, building, and shipping high-quality Android phones into the marketplace.
RapidRIL is used to accelerate the development of mobile devices, including smartphones, e-books, tablets, and other wirelessly connected devices and it supports all radio technologies up to and including 3G with a roadmap to support 4G. Additionally, the RapidRIL architecture supports multiple control and data channels that can be customized for specific device requirements.
In a release, Denis Londry, director of wireless solutions at Intrinsyc, said RapidRIL is a great complement to the feature-rich and robust Zii platforms. RapidRIL will drastically shorten development time and enhance the consumer experience.
Tim Lewis, director of marketing and partner relations at ZiiLABS, said Zii Development Kit 3G phone edition provides a modular development platform that enables customers to innovate around the recently announced Zii TRINITY concept phone and their ZMS-05 and ZMS-08 processors. Intrinsyc's RapidRIL software and expertise in telephony integration has provided their partners a comprehensive solution to quickly bring mobile products to market.

announced collaboration.
