Openwave Intros Openwave Integra 3.0

Openwave, a provider of mediation platform and tools to mobilize the Internet, has unveiled the Openwave Integra 3.0, a Linux-based, proactive service mediation and policy management solution.

The Integra is one of the company’s service-management products and is a next-generation multimedia proxy designed to rapidly enable open, secure multi-protocol service deployment on converged networks. The new version of the solution supports all of the company’s service-management products and affords operators the flexibility to select the deployment architecture and features that meet their specific needs, while allowing overall TCO.

The flexibility to introduce new services without having to overhaul infrastructure becomes critical to launching new services in a cost-effective manner. Integra eliminates the need to chain proxies every time a new service is to be launched. Its plug-in framework and open APIs simplify the launch of Openwave services, operator-owned and third-party services. The solution enables rapid service introduction to help monetize the services that subscribers want and also fasten the launch of highly differentiated services across a number of service protocols (HTTP, HTML, and RTSP).

John Giere (News - Alert), senior vice president of products and marketing at Openwave has commented that the data tsunami is here and now, and they believe Integra 3.0 will enable customers to become more agile in response to growing network capacity and service needs driven from the staggering waves of data demand from an increasing array of mobile and consumer electronic devices. As operators continue to look for ways to optimize their network resources, solutions like Integra 3.0 with its comprehensive policy controls and traffic management features will help operators create rich policy rules and enforcements to better manage their network.

Operators can manage and provide services for traffic from legacy devices and networks with Integra 3.0 and also cater to the often separate needs of data hungry devices that are emerging in the market. The solution is capable of rapidly and massively scale as traffic grows and can deploy new mobile data services across converging access networks and devices.

Clients of the Openwave service management products have acknowledged that policy management solutions can help operators create rules and enforcement that manage precious network resources to ensure that resources are fairly allocated in the face of the growing data demand.

Integra 3.0 can seamlessly update an operator’s WAP environment to embrace internet protocols, preserving and maximizing existing investments with new opportunities to develop revenue and also provides easier access to more services in a highly integrated services ecosystem that is easy to use and relevant to each subscriber.

Additional Integra 3.0 features include: Linux OS support; dynamic policy management; real-time operational analytics; Dynamic congestion control management; HTTP 1.1, WAP 1 & 2, RTSP/RTP/RDT protocol stack support; and ID privacy control.

Recently, Openwave optimized network traffic for Bouygues Telecom and launched new location offering for GSM/UMTS (News - Alert).
