. has
reportedly upgraded the OpenLogic Exchange Enterprise Edition by adding several new cost saving opportunity capabilities. The new features will let users identify areas where they can reduce expenditures by switching to open source software.

As per the findings of a study conducted by OpenLogic, savings to the tune of 60 percent to 90 percent can be realized in support and subscription costs on switching to open source databases, application servers and Web servers.
"With the current economic pressures, companies are looking for opportunities to use open source software wherever they can to reduce costs,” said Kim Weins, senior vice president of marketing at OpenLogic, in a statement. “When enterprise-grade SLA commercial support is available at a reasonable price, open source software continues to gain traction. OpenLogic provides technical support on 500+ open source packages. These new capabilities provide our customers with quick comparisons of open source costs versus costs of proprietary software."
Through the OSS Discovery scanner in the new OLEX EE, users can identify those applications in the enterprise that can be converted into open source infrastructure. The OLEX EE also offers a list of open source alternatives along with a comparison matrix to help the company make a selection. Users can also make accurate cost saving calculations by using cost date from OpenLogic's cost comparison analysis and any pre-negotiated corporate contract rates for proprietary software
All OLEX EE customers can benefit from the OLEX EE cost savings opportunity capabilities at no additional cost.
