Alert) 8.04 available in its online catalog of virtualized Open Source applications. click2try is a community website that enables users to try applications for free and use by subscription.
Ubuntu is a community-developed, Linux-based operating system. It is ideal for laptops, desktops and servers and includes the GNOME desktop. It also contains all the applications users require, such as a Web browser, presentation, document and spreadsheet software and instant messaging. Ubuntu provides a highly secure computing environment and includes the OpenOffice office productivity suite, integrated email and calendar.
The complete Ubuntu distribution is hosted in a click2try virtual machine and is available for free in the click2try catalog. The Ubuntu distribution will include standard Ubuntu applications such as Open Office, GIMP, Firefox, and Rhythmbox. According to Amber Graner, a member of UbuntuWomen, they are excited to have Ubuntu in the click2try catalog. The click2try site makes it easy to try and use Ubuntu along with the software included in each Ubuntu distribution.
According to Tom Callaghan, the VP of Technical Services at click2try, Ubuntu has been added to their catalog as part of its plan to host all of the major Linux distributions.
click2try provides a way for individuals and companies to easily evaluate and use the best Linux distributions in the Open Source market. The official Web site of click2try bypasses downloads and enables visitors to try any application for free or subscribe to an affordable service plan for persistent access.
All applications and data are securely stored within a hardened network infrastructure at the company's data center in Houston, Texas and the company currently hosts more than 40 Open Source applications in its VM Jukebox.
