Open-source Routing Platform Maker Vyatta Joins Citrix Ready Program

Open source networking platform developer Vyatta has not only raised funds from the software company Citrix but also agreed to participate in the company’s Citrix Ready program.

Under the agreement, Belmont, Calif.-based company will be included in the Citrix Cloud Center (abbreviated as C3 (News - Alert)), a collection of Citrix’s cloud computing and virtualization technology, packaged for the cloud service provider market.

"Our partnership with Citrix validates our position as the only networking vendor for customers that are leveraging virtualization solutions and cloud services,” said Kelly Herrell, CEO of Vyatta (News - Alert).

Vyatta's 'C' round of financing that raised $10 million was led by Citrix Systems (News - Alert)

Vyatta has announced it has joined the Citrix Ready product verification program to create solutions for customers deploying cloud computing infrastructure.

“The two companies have verified product compatibility between Vyatta's open networking solutions and the Citrix Cloud Center (C3) product family to make it as easy as possible for service providers and enterprises to use Vyatta with Citrix products such as XenDesktop, XenApp, XenServer and NetScaler,” the companies said in a press release.

Citrix Cloud Center (C3) integrates virtualization and cloud networking products that power many of today's largest Internet and Web service providers.

Citrix says it has already included Vyatta's open network operating system in Citrix C3 "blueprints" to provide network and security functions to a range of usage scenarios.

"Vyatta's solution is very complementary to the Citrix Cloud Center product family," said John Fanelli, vice president, solutions and community marketing at Citrix Systems.

However, analysts are skeptical about the success of the partnership and they doubt the claim that the companies’ products complement each other.

Vyatta sells networking software and hardware appliances to enterprises and service providers.
