The stack was developed and deployed by BBP to provide and secure inter-bank connections. Ingres Database was chosen because it can provide security, reliability, and support and maintenance to enterprises worldwide, according to Ingres officials.
BBP provides business-critical middleware applications to the worldwide financial institutions than simplify and streamline payment processes and control procedures. The top priorities for the company, according to BBP officials, are product reliability, unshakable security, and a lower total cost of ownership.
“Financial institutions place their absolute trust and the success of their day-to-day business processes directly into our hands,” said Amir Housseini, chief technical officer at BBP. He said that given the sensitivity of company’s application and the underlying data, they require an application infrastructure that can meet “extremely stringent requirements,” especially for security and availability.
Currently, BBP’s entire business relies exclusively on Ingres Database, a JBoss Enterprise Application Platform, and Red Hat (

“We’ve always relied on open source software components to reduce application development costs, and Ingres and JBoss are commercially proven, have been tested and guaranteed to work together,” Housseini said.
“BBP is yet another pioneer in using open source technology to manage the business-critical information found in an industry like financial services,” said Bertram Mandel, managing director CEMEA and vice president of sales and services at Ingres.
He said that this use of technology is also another example of the cost savings that companies, and their customers, can experience when they leverage the capabilities of multiple, integrated open source software solutions.
Ingres is an open source database management company. This week, company also
entered into a strategic partnership with the Wilken Group, a provider of business software solutions.
