Kaltura reportedly has
partnered with
wnet.org, a parent company of the Creative News Group, to let users participate in an online conversation about international news items and issues from around the world.
This partnership reflects the changing Internet, which has evolved into a highly interactive medium where users can publish their views and be heard. As users discover the powers of online media, many companies are setting up online identities to allow them to express their opinions.
The partnership between Kaltura and WNET.ORG will use Kaltura’s collaborative open source video platform. WNET.ORG is the company that produces nightly national newscast “Worldfocus,” which brings international news to the audience both via the nightly television program and the Worldfocus.org Web site.
“It is refreshing to see a news program that not only surfaces international issues, but also gives everyone an opportunity and the means to get involved,” said Ron Yekutiel, Kaltura’s chairman and chief executive officer. “Kaltura’s open source video platform now powers more than 10,000 sites worldwide – from a small personal blogger looking to present slideshows of pictures from his recent family trip, to leading media companies broadcasting episodes of their new series.”
What’s unique about “Worldfocus” is that it covers stories that don’t always make the headlines on commercial and cable newscasts. The nightly news program and Web site encourage viewers to take note of the international headlines and be an active participant in the discussions. Allowing the users to upload videos from their computer or record directly from their webcam, Kaltura’s video platform powers the Worldfocus.org “Talk to US” section.
Recenty, Kaltura was
selected by
Dori Media Group, an international media company active in the field of television, to power Novebox.com. According to the agreement, Kaltura will provide custom video applications to fit DMG’s specific needs, based on the Kaltura open source framework. The company’s open source video platform for video management, creation, interaction and collaboration allows fans to share and interact in rich-media.
