OpenX Technologies, Inc.
reportedly launched three new professional services and support packages today that offer installation, upgrade and training services for large and medium publishers who are already using the company’s ad server.
Officials said that as part of the new services and support package, a professional services team will provide early access to new software releases, training sessions, around-the-clock telephone support and onsite maintenance visits for publishers. Also, they said, an engineer and an account manager will be included for all three support package options.
According Tim Cadogan, chief executive officer at OpenX, offering professional services and support to a large and growing community is a natural extension of open source roots.
“This initiative clearly demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the community,” Cadogan said. “Adding world class, enterprise levels of support to our core ad serving product will help our publishers create and grow their businesses.”
OpenX officials said that the services came from a community survey, conducted by the company in May, that revealed how much people need support and services for installing and developing the OpenX ad server.
The new package is also expected to boost the revenue stream for the company which has about 30,000 Web publishers and 100,000 Web sites as customers.
According to Susan Kober, program manager at Sun Microsystems (

“Our partners at OpenX worked with our engineers and advertisers to develop the best plan, based on our requirements and timeline,” Kober said. “Everyone we worked with at OpenX was professional, experienced and understood what was most important to Sun. This great attitude has made this process very smooth.”
In addition to in-house services and support, OpenX’s independent consultants will also provide paid services to publishers. The company says that it will also continue its free online support resources, including its support forum and online documentation.
Right now, OpenX provides installation, training modules and customized development and consulting services for Web publishers.
