Varonis Extends DatAdvantage Support to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and 5 Environments

Extending support to Red Hat (News - Alert) Enterprise Linux 4 and 5, Varonis Systems Inc., an innovator and provider of comprehensive data governance software, today announced the availability of DatAdvantage version 3.7. With DatAdvantage version 3.7, Varonis can quickly add support for other Linux distributions such as SUSE, Ubuntu (News - Alert), etc.

Varonis DatAdvantage version 3.7 offers a single, unified view of unstructured data across the enterprise, which includes Linux, Windows and UNIX file systems, as well as Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices. This latest version of DatAdvantage provides support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and 5. Varonis has also architected a foundation to enable support for other Linux distributions with version 3.7. The coming months will become support for additional distributions.

Companies need solutions to ensure Linux file systems can be managed and monitored along with the rest of their data infrastructure as they deploy Linux as part of their business infrastructure. Companies with a Linux environment should safeguard, monitor and manage its mission-critical, proprietary data using the same security principles applied to Windows and UNIX environments.

Tested and proven in over 600 installations worldwide, Varonis DatAdvantage is an award-winning solution. Companies that use Linux can now power their file systems to have unprecedented visibility and auditing of who can access their file system data, as well as who is using the data, with the addition of Linux support. Companies can efficiently clean up unwarranted access to unstructured data on these file systems as Varonis DatAdvantage uses a unique mathematical engine to recommend which users should have their access revoked.

“Unstructured data on Linux file systems is business-critical and faces the same challenges as data on Windows and UNIX file systems,” said Yaki Faitelson, chief executive officer and co-founder of Varonis. “As organizations continue to deploy Linux in the data center, a data governance framework that continuously monitors data access is essential to ensure that only those employees with a legitimate need have access to key business assets, preventing sensitive corporate information from winding up in the wrong hands.”
