InfoWorld Recognizes Compiere's ERP/CRM Solution



Compiere, offering open source business solutions, announced that its ERP/CRM solution has been selected as the Best of Enterprise Resource Planning in IDG’s InfoWorld’s 2008 Best of Open Source Software (Bossies) Awards. These awards are in recognition of the best free and open source software required by businesses, IT professionals and productive individuals.
 
InfoWorld’s Test Center editors, analysts and reviewers selected 60 winners in eight categories including business and productivity applications, development tools, middleware, networking, security and storage.
 
InfoWorld said that Compiere’s general-purpose ERP package also includes basic CRM functionality. The package offers financials, procurement and inventory management besides general sales and reporting. Compiere enhanced security with data level granularity, user experience with a browser-based UI and strong search facilities.
“We are extremely honored by this recognition from InfoWorld,” said Don Klaiss, president and CEO of Compiere.

Compiere has released a technology upgrade to its ERP solution recently. The company is planning to move into the manufacturing and distribution marketplace besides adding functionality to each of its product upgrades in the future.
 
Compiere has transformed from an innovative open source project to a commercial open source company by expanding its services. It launched a new Web architecture and UI and succeeded in gaining more customers worldwide. Its applications are built on a model-driven application platform enabling businesses to acquire, implement and extend customization of ERP systems without programming.
 
The open source business model helps customers benefit from ERP automation at lesser cost compared to traditional proprietary software products.
