snom Launches Installation Training Aimed at Newcomers to VoIP

snom is instituting a worldwide series of training events on installing the VoIP telecommunications systems by Asterisk (News - Alert) and snom’s VoIP telephones.
Michael Storella, director of U.S. business development for snom, said told TMCnet the VoIP installation training offering was in response to growing dealer demand for introductory training sessions.
“There is a growing list of people asking for training,” he said. “Its tough keeping up with demand.”

One of the problems facing any telecom specialist installing VoIP system and phones locally is that he must first obtain a general picture of the many features available.
The introductory training sessions are designed to support installers and demonstrate “how uncomplicated the job of setting up a solid VoIP basic configuration consisting of Asterisk system and snom telephones can be,” said Oliver Wittig, vice president sales EMEA at snom.
The snom VoIP training sessions begin on July 17 in Berlin. From there, they will be taken to snom’s partners worldwide – in Austria (IPAustria), Switzerland (Shark Distribution), Spain (EUREPSIP), Italy (Allnet Italia), Australia (Noojee Telephony and Digital Techniques) and Hong Kong (Digital Techniques Asia).
“The great interest in the installation training, particularly in the combination Asterisk telecom system and snom telephones, shows us we are filling a real gap,” said Wittig.
Wittig also notes when a few basic principles are observed, the installation can be realized just as well and as easily as in ISDN or DSL.
