Kevin Fleming, director of software technologies at Digium, Inc., the Asterisk (News - Alert) company, will deliver a keynote presentation on the future of open source communications software at October’s AstriCon Open Source Telephony Conference and Exhibition.
Digium (News - Alert) is the preferred open source communications provider, with hardware and software that enable businesses to buy or build full-featured and cost-effective telephony solutions, the company said.
Asterisk has been downloaded millions of times since its initial release in 1999 and has been integrated into thousands of companies’ communications solutions.
“Asterisk has been an industry-changing open source project that has grown with the support of an active and thriving community,” added Fleming, who has helped manage and define Asterisk’s direction since he joined Digium in 2005. “We believe that the news we’re sharing at AstriCon will further the disruption of the communications industry, as Asterisk did with its original release, and demonstrate Digium’s commitment to taking open source communications in an exciting direction for the Asterisk Community.”
AstriCon 2010 will take place between Oct. 26 and 28, at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Md.
