Switchvox (News - Alert), a turnkey voice over IP (VoIP) unified communications (UC) solution, makes Digium, Inc., the Asterisk (News - Alert) Company, proud. “We’re very pleased at the current rate of growth we’re experiencing on our Switchvox business,” said Leslie Conway, vice president of global marketing at Digium (News - Alert), in a statement. This statement follows Digium’s news that Switchvox, providing call recording and visual voicemail to small and mid-sized businesses, grew more than 30 percent in 2010.
Switchvox, based on Asterisk, an open source telephony engine, provides affordable enterprise-class features, such as integrated iPhone and BlackBerry mobile applications.
Digium was included in Gartner’s (News
- Alert) Magic Quadrant for Corporate Telephony, as well as selected for several awards, such as Everything Channel’s Top MidMarket Value Product Award.
The year 2010 brought enhanced administration, protection and features to Switchvox, allowing handsets to access call recording, visual voicemail, a searchable company directory and call parking lots, along providing language support and GUI localization for UK English, Italian, Castilian Spanish, and Latin American Spanish. Stricter password protection policies, simplified access for tech support to connect, diagnose and troubleshoot issues, flexibility for scheduling and applying updates and improved backup options were also introduced by the close of 2010.
Conway commented, “We understand that businesses have to be smart with their expenditures and select phone systems that deliver the most value.”
Recently, TMC and Digium have announced that Digium|Asterisk World is returning to ITEXPO (News - Alert), Feb. 2-4, 2011, at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Officials with Digium claim that Asterisk is the world’s most widely used open source communications software, and the Digium|Asterisk World event helps the entire Asterisk community learn how to create more flexible and powerful telephony solutions.
According to company officials, the conference content at Digium|Asterisk World will also reveal how open source solutions are being deployed in call centers; cloud computing solutions; and numerous government, enterprise, and carrier applications. Additional sessions will identify opportunities for the entire Asterisk ecosystem.
