Company officials claim that its newly released KONNECT Phones for Asterisk (News - Alert) are the first standards-based VoIP handsets to cleanly deliver Key Telephone System functionality on Asterisk

“We are very pleased to launch our KONNECT Phones for Asterisk solution at ITEXPO (News - Alert),” said Martin Sunstrum, CEO at Aksys Networks.

“Our award-winning, server-less KONNECT Office Phone (News - Alert) System excels in the up to 30 phone market and now we have a solution to provide further scalability and flexibility for users of Asterisk-based phone systems. There is a huge market need for a simple and intuitive end-user experience that is satisfied by the KONNECT portfolio of products,” added Sunstrum.

The KONNECT Office Phone System is a server-less office phone system that supports up to 30 phones and provides office quality handsets with plug-and-play simplicity. The KONNECT Phones for Asterisk solution is said to deliver high level of flexibility and simplicity to the Asterisk marketplace through its clean and simple delivery of core features and functions. Aksys says that this newly launched phone is the ideal fit for any Asterisk deployment offering, as it offers the tightest handset integration with Asterisk, resulting in a more intuitive end user experience and higher customer satisfaction.

Moreover, the phone comes with exceptional design and user interface presentation supporting both Key System and PBX (News - Alert) modes of operation. Added to this, an optional integrated landline port provides the flexibility for remote workers to stay connected to the office while also maintaining local landline connection.

Application developers can now deliver enhanced applications to the KONNECT phones, according to company officials.

Developers can rapidly deploy enhanced feature applications for KONNECT phones in Asterisk-based systems using Aksys Network’s SIPSTIM protocol. SIPSTIM is an advanced SIP-based stimulus protocol that allows developers full control over the KONNECT phone LCD and LEDs, and allows their applications to respond to any key press events on the KONNECT phones.

Reportedly, demo applications are made available for tightly integrated visual voicemail, call forwarding, call parking and call recording applications.
