Apstel Unveils Visual Dialplan Code Zone

Apstel LLC, a company enabling easier usage and adoption of the Asterisk Open Source PBX (News - Alert) & telephony platform, has reportedly announced the release of an online knowledge base and community, “Visual Dialplan Code Zone,” specially designed for developers who are developing Asterisk (News - Alert) applications.

Apstel’s ‘Visual Dialplan Code Zone’ is a Web site for developers to find solutions, share ideas and solve problems. It will be providing developers with code snippets, dial plan examples as well as a wiki containing tutorials - for developers creating applications based on Asterisk platform. In addition, it includes a forum for ongoing discussion and tools, in order to simplify development and testing.

Back in February, Apstel had unveiled the Visual Dialplan, which is rapid application development platform for Asterisk dial plan development, a GUI (graphical user interface) or a visual tool that enables users to design and validate Asterisk dialplan in an easy way.

The dialplan is the heart of Asterisk Open Source PBX & telephony platform. It controls how all calls are handled, both inbound and outbound, and generally consists of four elements – extensions, contexts, priorities and applications.

Apstel’s Visual Dialplan features a drag-and-drop visual modeling environment and a large component library. Apart from providing useful dial plan examples to developers, it also offers a robust validation engine and single button deployment functionality.

With the help of Visual Dialplan platform, users can create new Asterisk dial plans as well as preserve or upgrade an existing dialplan. Users can also deploy the newly created dial plan directly to Asterisk, Free PBX, trixbox, PBX In a Flash or Elastix (News - Alert) server.

Apart from building standard Asterisk dialplans, Visual Dialplan can be used to build powerful voice applications based on LumenVox (News - Alert) speech recognition technology. The platform can also test Asterisk IVR, queues, conferencing, voicemail, TTS, ASR and other capabilities.

Moreover, Visual Dialplan can gather information to use regarding Asterisk server configuration and then pre-populate library components with configuration data, thereby helping in easier dial plan development.
