Digium and DOW Form Partnership
By Amy TierneyAsterisk (News - Alert) developer Digium, Inc. reportedly has signed on a new partner to help the company better target overseas markets.
The Huntsville, Alabama-based company, which created and develops Asterisk, the open source telephony platform, entered into a partnership with DOW Networks. Under it, Digium (News - Alert) can take advantage of DOW’s overseas reach in Latin America and South Africa.
“As a leading, international VoIP service provider, DOW Networks represents a valuable path to fast growing markets like South Africa and Latin America,” said Bill Miller (News - Alert), Digium’s VP of product management. “We are pleased to expand our already strong relationship with DOW Networks.”
DOW offers international communications and enhanced VoIP (voice over Internet protocol) services and solutions for call centers, hotels, distributed enterprises and small and mid-sized businesses. Its products include domestic and international toll-free service, SIP trunks, Asterisk-based IP PBXs, hosted predictive dialer software, toll-free numbers and a complete portfolio of call center solutions. DOW serves customers in more than 50 countries and has offices in the U.S., Costa Rica, Jamaica and South Africa.
The partnership is a good match as DOW already is a Digium reseller and an expert in Asterisk and the Switchvox IP PBX (News - Alert), the firm said.
“Our expanded relationship with Digium will allow us to continue introducing new Asterisk-based solutions and reinforce our position as an expert in Asterisk-based systems,” David Wise, DOW Networks’ CEO, said in a statement. “Our experiences and customer feedback will help ensure that Digium’s products remain well-aligned with the needs and expectations of our customers.”
Digium is the creator and driving force behind Asterisk, the open source voice communications software deployed by millions of servers worldwide to manage VoIP calls for businesses and individuals. Asterisk powers Digium's software and hardware appliances.
Earlier this year, Digium signed on Orderly Software to provide new call center services, TMC (News - Alert) reported. The company also partnered with Enterux Solutions Private Limited, a Mumbai, India-based provider of Asterisk-based solutions, to offer authorized Digium training courses to businesses in India.
