November 13, 2008
The head of the Huntsville, Alabama-based company that created the first open source telephony platform is scheduled to deliver a keynote
address at a well-regarded IP communications conference in February, the event’s organizers announced today.
According to TMC (

“For the past few years, the leader of their growth has been Danny Windham, whose vision and insight has helped propel Digium’s (

Windham, pictured right, joined Digium – a company whose product lines include hardware and software that helps resellers and businesses implement turnkey solutions or to design their own VoIP systems – in February 2007. He came there following several years at
ADTRAN, Inc., a networking and communications equipment provider that’s also based in Huntsville. Windham holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Mississippi State University, where he was named a distinguished engineering fellow in 2001, and holds a MBA from Florida Technical College.
As TMCnet has
reported, this year’s ITEXPO – which is expected to draw 7,000 attendees – will feature the
Digium|Asterisk World conference, an event that’s billed as educating business users, resellers and executive decision-makers on “everything Asterisk.”
The conference – open now for registration – will feature booth exhibition space and a so-called “Presentation Theater” on the ITEXPO floor, where attendees can learn more about Digium’s open source communications solutions, according to a recent
blog entry by TMC Vice President and Chief Technical Officer Tom Keating.
As Digium’s chief, Windham sets corporate strategy and executes day-to-day business operations.
Windham told TMCnet that the ITEXPO attracts some of the brightest and most dynamic players in IP communications.
“Therefore, I’m honored to be asked to address such a high-powered audience,” Windham said. “Just as Digium derives its strength and creativity from the open source Asterisk community, ITEXPO and Digium|Asterisk World are inspired by the participation of business users, resellers and those in IP communications today.”
ITEXPO East 2009 is the world’s largest and most significant communications technology event,
according to Keating.
“It features more than 200 companies exhibiting on the expo floor and hundreds of sessions led by the industry’s most well-known thought leaders,” Keating
writes. “The show provides a forum for assessing the latest products and services and offers numerous opportunities for face-to-face networking that service providers, carriers, resellers, distributors, equipment manufacturers and IT executives from enterprise and SMB companies need to create new business relationships.”
Registration for ITEXPO is now open. Anyone interested may register by visiting
www.itexpo.com. Limited booth space is still available as well. Vendors interested in exhibiting at the show should contact Dave Rodriguez (
