Digium|Asterisk World at ITEXPO

October 10, 2008

Earlier this week, Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC) and Digium, the Asterisk (News - Alert) Company, announced that they have partnered to host Digium|Asterisk World during INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO (ITEXPO (News - Alert)) East 2009 in Miami, Florida.

According to the official announcement, Digium (News - Alert)|Asterisk World at ITEXPO will be the conference that addresses “Everything Asterisk” for business users, resellers and executive decision-makers. The event will be held February 2-4, 2009 at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

Attendees are encouraged to come to Digium|Asterisk World to discover how Asterisk, the world’s most widely used open source telephony software, can save them money and allow them to create more flexible telephony solutions.

The conference will include both booth exhibition space and a Presentation Theatre on the EXPO floor. In addition, TMC (News - Alert) and Digium will collaborate to create the conference track agenda, which will be announced in the coming months.

TMCnet spoke to several Digium executives about this latest development.

Digium CEO Danny Windham about this recently and a video interview with Windham regarding the partnership can be found on TMCnet.com here.

Leslie Conway, vice president of Global Marketing for Digium answered several questions regarding the upcoming event concerning who attends and how Digium|Asterisk World differs from other open source telephony events, such as AstriCon.

GG: What is Digium|Asterisk World?
LC: Digium|Asterisk World is the conference which addresses “Everything Asterisk” and is solely dedicated to progressing open source IP telephony communications in business environments. It is hosted by Digium, creator and primary corporate sponsor of Asterisk, the world’s most widely used open source telephony platform.

GG: What can attendees expect and why is this event significant?
LC: Digium|Asterisk World is the only industry event that is entirely focused on how businesses are using Asterisk-based products. Attendees can expect to come to Digium|Asterisk World to learn how Asterisk can be used to save money and create revenue in their businesses. They can expect to hear from Digium partners, customers and developers and learn how businesses are leveraging Asterisk in new and innovative ways.

GG: Who should attend Digium|Asterisk World?
LC: Business users, resellers and executive decision-makers responsible for voice and VoIP within their companies should attend Digium|Asterisk World.

GG: How does this event differ from other Open Source Telephony events, such as AstriCon?
LC: AstriCon can be thought of as the Asterisk Users Conference and as such targets Asterisk users, developers, and Ecosystem members. The mission of AstriCon is to expand the attendee’s knowledge of Asterisk, the open source telephony platform, through sessions, workshops, and tutorials. Digium|Asterisk World targets business users, resellers and executive-decision makers with little or no exposure to open source telephony. The goal of Digium|Asterisk World is to expand the awareness of open source IP PBX (News - Alert) solutions and to concentrate on the role Asterisk and Asterisk Ecosystem partners play in developing and delivering innovative business-class communications solutions.
