Mavenspire's Digium Asterisk Bootcamp Scheduled for September

July 21, 2008

Mavenspire today announced its first Digium Training course, Asterisk (News - Alert) Bootcamp.

The Asterisk Bootcamp is a five day course that covers the key points of Asterisk installation, configuration, and administration. The course, scheduled to be held from September 22-26, will be the first in a series of Digium (News - Alert) courses to be offered by Mavenspire.

According to Digium, the course begins with an in-depth review of Asterisk as an application, a project, and a community. In addition, it also teaches students to download, compile, install and tune Asterisk, in order to connect it with both end-user devices (phones) and the outside world.

Moreover, students learn to create dial plans, to implement applications, and to make use of the long list of features which are included with Asterisk.

Digium officials pointed out that the aim of Asterisk Bootcamp is to prepare Linux/Unix consultants, interconnect vendors, enterprise IT personnel, and ITSP/telco systems administrators to install, configure, manage and troubleshoot Asterisk-based VoIP systems.

Mavenspire officials said that their company has partnered with Digium to become the “first” authorized Digium Training Center on the East Coast of the United States.

The partnership enables Mavenspire to offer classes on the Asterisk telephony platform, including the Bootcamp, SIP Master and forthcoming Switchvox (News - Alert) classes.

Officials said that participants in these classes will be allowed to sit for the Digium Certified Asterisk Professional (dCAP) exam.

Founded in 1999, Mavenspire provides information technology services and solutions to clients across the United States and abroad. The Asterisk Company, Digium has created and owns Asterisk, open source telephony software.

Last month, Digium announced that it will be the exclusive vendor of Asterisk-compatible analog and digital PCI and PCIe telephony boards for Critical Links’ (News - Alert) flagship edgeBOX product line.
