Sangoma's New Product Allows Interconnectivity for PSTN and IP Networks

December 01, 2011

Just today, Sangoma, a provider of both hardware and software solutions that can be utilized in IP Communications Systems (News - Alert) within telecom and datacom applications launched its Vega suite of gateway products.

"This launch marks the end of three months of intense work by our engineering, product management, support, operations, and sales organizations in Canada, the US, UK and India to bring this exciting new suite of products to general availability," Bill Wignall, president and CEO of Sangoma said in a statement. "This milestone also signals the completion of integration of the former VegaStream people and operations into the Sangoma family and we are very pleased with how smoothly this acquisition has been handled by teams on both sides of the ocean."

Company officials revealed that the innovative VoIP gateways enables interconnectivity between PSTN and IP networks at a cost-effective price. The Vega suite is comprised of three distinct product lines including: Vega 50 line which is ideal for low density analog or BRI connectivity, the Vega 400 line which has been tailored to be utilized within high density digital interfaces with multiple T1s or E1s, and the Vega 5000 line which fully supports high density analog connectivity up to 50 FXS ports, according to a release.

Sangoma is looked upon as a thought leader within the industry segment that offers TDM to IP telephony interface boards that are utilized within servers. However, as gateway appliances which are very similar options with the only difference being they are located outside the server continue to gain traction, the company has jumped head first into the market.

In addition to the increasing popularity of gateway appliances, cloud adoption is driving Sangoma’s new offerings and this year alone the company has unveiled new media processing products and more. With Sangoma’s recent acquisition of VegaStream, the company is able give customers a more extensive range of VoIP hardware options.

Wignall added, "General availability of the Vega portfolio is just one more step in Sangoma's evolution as a company. We are reinventing ourselves to become a substantial player in more segments of the IP communications market. That strategy includes significantly broadening our product portfolio to deliver more value to our customers and partners and meet more of their product needs. Sangoma is now committed to delivering 5 to 10 new products per year, well up from the historical average of one new release annually. We launched our multiplexer line last quarter with more multiplexers to follow shortly. We've already announced our Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync certified gateway this quarter. “

Currently, Sangoma is awaiting orders for its Vega products and will be shipping the products to customers located all over the world.
