Microsoft Lync Certification Given to Sangoma NetBorder Express Media Gateway

Sangoma Technologies (News - Alert) Corporation is one of the leading providers of hardware and software components that assist IP Communications Systems for both voice and data. The company recently announced that its NetBorder Express Enterprise Class TDM to SIP Media Gateway (News - Alert) has been approved for the Microsoft Unified Communications Open Interoperability Program.

The NetBorder Express Media Gateway can now be used to offer the following services to a Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync implementation: PSTN and legacy PBX connectivity support with T1, E1, BRI and analog protocols; a survivable branch appliance to add voice resiliency to branch    offices and connectivity of fax machines and analog devices.

In a release, Frederic Dickey, director of product management for Sangoma, said, "Our NetBorder Express Gateway was always designed to be compliant with the Microsoft Lync solution. This announcement shows we've met our goal."

Microsoft Lync is a unified communications solution that offers presence, instant messaging, conferencing and enterprise voice capabilities through just one, easy-to-use interface that is reliable across PC and browser. Administrators will greatly benefit from a single, consistent management infrastructure, capabilities to increase availability as well as interoperability with existing systems.

Kapil Sharma, Principal Group Program Manager, Microsoft, said, "Sangoma's NetBorder Express gateways provide customers an expanded choice in Media Gateway solutions that operate using Windows Server 2008. Sangoma Technologies is working with us to help customers transition their communications into the future with Lync."

The Sangoma NetBorder Express Media Gateway is a software application that leverages Sangoma telephony hardware boards. This unique implementation helps the Media Gateway functionality without the need to add an additional server or appliance to the Microsoft Lync implementation. The NetBorder Express software can be implemented to run as a co-resident on any server that is already a part of the deployment.
