New Video Conferencing Solution from Xorcom, Surf Can Integrate with Xorcom's Asterisk Solutions

October 18, 2011

Xorcom and Surf Communications (News - Alert) Solutions have found a friend in one another as the two have teamed to develop an integrated, multi-point video and voice conferencing solution designed for use in Xorcom's (News - Alert) Asterisk based IP-PBX telephony appliances.

According to company officials, the video conferencing solution will be one that SMBs can afford.

Surf Communications Solutions, an industry leader in high-capacity processing solutions for real-time multimedia communication systems and applications, and Xorcom, a privately-held manufacturer of business telephony interfaces and appliances, have joined hands in an effort to make video conferencing capabilities affordable and accessible to businesses of all sizes.

“Today most businesses recognize the advantages of video conferencing, but many do not implement such systems because of the total cost of the existing solutions,” officials said in a recent press release. “In contrast to other video conferencing solutions currently in the market, the Surf-Xorcom product enables organizations to conduct high quality multi-point video conferencing at an affordable price.”

The new solution is able to integrate seamlessly with Xorcom's award-winning Asterisk based business telephony solutions, which support from 30 to 1000 users. SIP (Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert)) signaling will guarantee compatibility with a wide variety of endpoints, including the leading IP-based video phones as well as soft phones, significantly reducing the total cost of the solution, according to officials.

The key features of the new product include: high definition voice and video as resolutions of up to 720p and wideband HD VoIP are supported; low latency, high quality voice and video for different resolutions; smooth transcoding; complete control through Web management or DTMF (Dual Tone Multi Frequency) codes; seamless Interoperability as it is built on a solid media processing foundation and providing standard based SIP protocol to connect different devices; video IVR support which brings the entire video experience; and intuitive Web management.

The new video conferencing solution will be demonstrated at AstriCon, taking place in Westminster, Colo. From Oct. 25-27, at Xorcom’s booth, No. 300.

In just a few weeks, Surf will be holding a free webinar titled, “Not a CEO’s Toy Anymore: Video Conferencing for every Organization,” taking place Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 2 p.m. EST/11 a.m. PT. To register for the webinar, click here.
