Xorcom's Bridger Discloses Surprising New Opportunity for Telephony Hardware

October 12, 2011

On the first official day of the recent ITEXPO West 2011 in Austin, Texas, TMCnet’s Managing Editor Stefanie Mosca had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Xorcom’s (News - Alert) VP of Marketing, Ruth Bridger.

The company is a hardware manufacturer, making telephony products for businesses, basing their products on the open-source Asterisk. They’re good for companies who want to rather easily integrate third-party applications into their telephony system.

She explained the importance of networking in the industry now -- “establishing relationships is where it’s at,” Bridger said, especially since Xorcom sells through a distribution channel. “Businesses don’t buy from businesses, people buy from people,” she noted.

This summer TMC’s (News - Alert) Rajani Baburajan wrote that Xorcom announced Lantone Systems joined as its distributor in Singapore. Headquartered in Singapore, Lantone specializes in VoIP infrastructure and supplying telephony products such as Digium, Dialogic, Polycom (News - Alert), CISCO and Linksys.

Under the terms of the distributor partnership agreement, Lantone Systems will be responsible for distributing the entire range of Xorcom's Asterisk-based IP-PBX (News - Alert) and USB2-connected channel banks to qualified resellers in the local market.

Bridger described some of the new vertical opportunities Xorcom sees, especially in the hospitality industry, probably not the first one that comes to mind when one thinks of opportunities for telephony hardware, but Bridger explained why, in fact, it’s such a good option for growth right now.

Manufacturing, real estate and finance are other particular areas of interest for Xorcom, and Bridger said such a broad base and the favorable responses help their clients across all verticals.

Xorcom's Asterisk-based IP-PBX all-in-one appliances allow communication using both VoIP and traditional telephony protocols, such as FXS, FXO, E1/T1 PRI, T1 CAS, E1 R2 and BRI ISDN.
