This week, Sangoma announced that it purchased assets that belong to VegaStream, a U.K.-based company that creates VoIP compatible appliances.

Officials with Sangoma revealed that the company has been investing in new marketing, sales and product developments for quite some time, and this acquisition will help to not only increase investments but growth as well.

Industry experts spoke in regards to the merger of the VegaStream assets, saying that these new resources would enable Sangoma to reach multiple goals such as enhancing its portfolio, increasing its distribution network, being able to offer channel partners a larger comprehensive suite of products, expanding its customer base, and much more.

In related news, Humbug Telecom Labs, a company that powers carrier-class fraud prevention and detection solutions to various businesses, has seamlessly integrated its analytics, fraud detection and prevention into the Elastix (News - Alert) open source project.

The Elastix open source project was created and is run by PaloSanto Solutions, a company located in Ecuador that caters to open source innovation and innovative technology. Elastix powers open-source unified communications server software that combines IP PBX, e-mail, instant messaging, faxing and collaboration capabilities. The appliance software provides the best tools that are available for Asterisk (News - Alert) based PBXs into a simple interface.

“With Humbug Analytics Elastix users can have detailed traffic reports and real time fraud alerts,” said Edgar Landivar, CEO of Elastix, in a statement. “It is a very handy tool that is currently being used by IP-PBX (News - Alert) administrators around the globe; many of them have downloaded it free from our Elastix MarketPlace.”
