Asterisk: First Educational Online Community Portal Launched on TMCnet

May 17, 2011

In a bid to introduce new players to Open Source (News - Alert) Technology and take it to a higher level, Sangoma Technologies, a premier provider of software and hardware components with an emphasis on IP Communications Systems, entered into a partnership with TMCnet.

This partnership will allow Sangoma Technologies to sponsor and update a series of three Educational Global Online Communities. The first in the series, the Asterisk Global Online Community was launched on TMCnet.

Company officials believe that the Asterisk (News - Alert) Global Online Community will help companies succeed in the rapidly evolving Open Source Telephony market. Not only will it help introduce new players but it will also help advance innovations around that technology.

Shortly, both the corporations are expected to partner again on an IP PBX (News - Alert) Global Online Community and an IP Telephony Global Online Community.

"We realized that while these three topics are all closely related, there are real distinctions in the decision making and implementation issues addressed by each of the technologies and markets that are addressed by these communities," said Jeff Dworkin, director of marketing for Sangoma, in a press release. "They are all in states of rapid transition and we want to help as many companies as possible navigate these ongoing transitions."

While the IP PBX Community is expected to help companies migrating from TDM based technologies to an all IP-based infrastructure, the IP Telephony Community will help developers, SMBs enterprises and carriers keep abreast with the latest information and solutions in the IP Telephony space.

In other news Sangoma Technologies (News - Alert) launched the D150 voice transcoding series, the latest addition to its transcoding board offering, targeted for the embedded and stand-alone VoIP solutions markets.
