Vishay Offers New Capacitors
(Wireless News Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
New resistor products recently released by Vishay Intertechnology
include the Tantamount Hi-Rel COTS 63-V T97 solid tantalum chip
capacitor and the TR8 series of molded MicroTan tantalum chip
capacitors.
Vishay stated that the Tantamount Hi-Rel COTS T97 series has been
extended to offer the industry's first solid tantalum chip capacitor
with a 63-V rating and a capacitance of 22 microfarads. For the first
time, the new T97 device in the "F" case size allows designers to meet
derating requirements of 50 percent of the rated voltage in +28-V power
supply designs.
Featuring a dual anode construction to ensure the lowest ESR in its
class, the T97 series is designed for safety-critical applications,
such as those found in the military and aerospace industries, including
dc-to-dc converters and power distribution in weapons and radar
systems, avionics, and space-based electronics.
The T97 series offers designers a wide array of ratings not found in
available MIL specifications, combining the flexibility and convenience
of a commercial product with the reliability needed in demanding
applications. Featuring a conformal-coating and wrap-around
terminations, the capacitors offer high-reliability screening options
including Weibull grading and surge current testing options in
accordance with MIL-PRF-55365 in five case sizes.
Vishay's TR8 series of molded MicroTan tantalum chip capacitors
provides ultra-low ESR values of 0.8 ohms (at 100 kHz and 47
microfarads) in the 0805 case size and an industry-low 1.5 ohms in the
0603 case size.
Low ESR values, combined with small 0603 and 0805 footprints, allow for
greater efficiency in audio filtering and signal processing
applications while requiring less PCB space. The new TR8 capacitors are
intended for applications in cell phones, digital cameras, MP3 players,
and other portable devices.
The devices feature lead (Pb)-free, L-shape facedown terminations for
better contact to the solder pad than traditional facedown-style
terminations. In addition, their rectangular molded case encapsulation
helps to streamline PCB assembly.
Capacitance values for the TR8 series range from 1.0 to 220
microfarads, with standard capacitance tolerances of +/-10 percent and
+/-20 percent. Voltage ratings range from 4 WVDC to 16 WVDC. The
operating temperature range for the devices is -55 to +85 degrees
Celsius, or +125 degrees Celsius with voltage derating.
